Free Flying Micro Platform and Papa-TV-Bot: evolving autonomously hovering mobots
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper outlines the possibilities, the evolution, and the basic technical elements of autonomously hovering micro robots. It consists of three parts. The first part presents the application Papa-TV-Bot, a free flying automatic video camera. The second part is a schedule for the long-term development of autonomously hovering mobots in 8 phases. The third part describes the basic technologies of the vehicles of Phases 1 through 3.

How to Talk to a Papa-TV-Bot: Interfaces for Autonomously Levitating Robots
Developing new ways of thinking about speech for interaction with computers was always part of the agenda of the MIT Media Lab Speech Interface Group [52]. However, I think that soon there will emerge a closely related new area: speech for interaction with mobile entities. By working with Artificial Life and Robotics people at MIT, I have come to the conclusion that speech might be the most app...
متن کاملOptic Flow Based Collision Avoidance on a Hybrid MAV
Recent terrorist attacks on the United States have exposed the need for better surveillance and situational awareness technologies. Organizations created to address these needs are aggressively funding research in the use of Micro Air Vehicles for homeland security missions. Such missions have been occurring in caves, tunnels, and urban areas. By mimicking flying insects which navigate in these...
متن کاملOptic Flow Regulation in Unsteady Environments: A Tethered MAV Achieves Terrain Following and Targeted Landing Over a Moving Platform
Insects navigate swiftly through the most complex environments, often attaining a level of agility that greatly outperforms that of present-day aerial robots. Insects use optic flow (the retinal sleep on an agent retina of the contrasted objects in his environment) they perceive thanks to their compound eye to navigate autonomously in unknown environments. Insects use therefore principles to pe...
متن کاملMultistatic Micro-doppler Radar Features Extraction for Classification of Unloaded/loaded Micro-drones
This paper presents the use of micro-Doppler signatures collected by a multistatic radar to detect and discriminate between micro-drones hovering and flying while carrying different payloads, which may be an indication of unusual or potentially hostile activities. Different features have been extracted and tested, namely features related to the Radar Cross Section of the micro-drones, as well a...
متن کاملA computational model of the flight dynamics and aerodynamics of a jellyfish-like flying machine
We explore theoretically the aerodynamics of a recently fabricated jellyfish-like flying machine (Ristroph & Childress, J. R. Soc. Interface, vol. 11 (92), 2014, 20130992). This experimental device achieves flight and hovering by opening and closing opposing sets of wings. It displays orientational or postural flight stability without additional control surfaces or feedback control. Our model ‘...
